The Cosmic Joke: Looking for What’s Already Here

We go on quests.

To temples, mountaintops, ashrams, books, people, places, planets…

Searching for something beyond —

God, peace, truth, awakening, “the answer.”

We chant.

We meditate.

We ask questions.

We try to dissolve the ego, fix the mind, heal the past.

We run in circles trying to reach something we believe is far away.

But here’s the joke the universe plays, silently and kindly:

It was never far. It was never hidden. It was never not here.

What you were searching for

Was what you were searching with.

That silence? It’s been with you since you were born.

That energy? It’s in your breath, your heartbeat, your tears, your laughter.

That presence? It’s in the space between two thoughts.

That god?

Might just be the one who’s reading these words right now.

The real awakening is often not some fireworks moment.

It’s a simple shift —

A seeing.

A smile.

A stillness inside that says:

“Oh… it was always here.”

And then, you laugh.

Because the universe just told you the oldest joke in existence.

And you were the punchline all along.
